On 30 November, Mr. Andrew Russell UN Development Coordinator and Rozafa Kelmendi, Project Manager from UNWOMEN were guests on the morning show of RTK1. They were discussing the 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women campaign in Kosovo for 2017, which is the biggest since the campaign started in 2013. Also, they covered other issues like Gender-Based Violence and other issues of Gender Equality.
On 29 November in The Media Center in Caglavica held a debate on the topic “The Position of Women in Kosovo”. Participants in the panel were: Nora Sahatçiu – UN Coordination Specialist from UNDCO/UNKT , Marija Stankovic – NGO “Aktiv” from North Mitrovica, Besnik Lekaj – Care International, and Gordana Djoric-Association of Business Women “Avenia”

On 2 December 2017 Ms. Nora Sahatçiu – UN Coordination Specialist was a guest on the Morning Show on RTK 2, along with Ms. Anđelka Ćup a journalist from Serbian community on Kosovo. They discussed the situation of women in Kosovo society, across the ethnic lines, income, profession, level of education and other disparities women find themselves in Kosovo context.
These are some among few contributions that Development Coordination Office is making as part of the 16 Days Campaign.
16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women in a global campaign started in 2013, and it is led by UNWOME. This year’s motto is:”Leave No One Behind: End Violence against Women and Girls”. The campaign starts every year on 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) and it ends on 10 of December (International Human Rights Day).
