The United Nations Development Coordination Office signed Memorandum of Understanding with CSR Network Kosovo today at UN House in Pristina. The UN development Coordinator Ms. Ulrika Richardson signed on behave of UNDCO, while Ms. Linda Tahiri the Executive Director CSR Network signed on behalf of CSR Network Kosovo.
The purpose of this MOU is to provide a framework of cooperation and facilitate and strengthen collaboration between the UN Kosovo Team and CSR Network Kosovo, in areas of common interest on implementing corporate finance and investments as a catalyst for growth and social impact contributing to healthier lives in workplaces, markets, supply chains and society this way achieving the SDG’s in the framework of the Agenda 2030.
The UN Development Coordinator Ms. Richardson said in this occasion: “Companies have both a responsibility and an interest to contribute to a more fair and inclusive society. That will not only increase the sustainability of our societies but also the health, wellbeing and prosperity of women, men and children who consume private sector services and products. We also know that to achieve the ambitious Global Agenda 2030 and its SDGs, private sector needs to engage. More prosperous and sustainable communities are in everybody’s best interest!”
Ms. Linda Tahiri, Executive Director of the CSR Network Kosovo said: “We believe all companies can contribute to the SDGs, and they can play a role no matter how large or small they are, and regardless of their industry. CSR members are committed in increasing the importance of CSR in addressing many-dimensional challenges our society faces, in the fields of: human rights; labor rights; environment; fighting corruption; and various issues of social character, under the assumption that something voluntary must be done to address our responsibility to the society, which goes beyond the obligation to comply with regulations and laws in force.” The MoU signed today opens new opportunities for collaboration of UN and private entities in promotion of Sustainable Development Goals, and will contribute to achievement of the overall Agenda 2030.
