The movie “Home” started as a small video project for the Dokufest festival 2015. Little by little it picked up and became a short feature supporting and advocating for the Refugees and and global migrant crisis.
While initially it was supported by UN Kosovo Team, and specifically by The United Nations Development Coordinator’s Office (UNDCO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA), UN Women, the United Nations Volunteers (UNV), the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and United Nations Missin in Kosovo (UNMiK). The project got financial support by USAID Kosovo, as well as Soros Foundations International. Addittional financial support for the project was given by by Kosovo authorities, as well as Prishtina Municipality, as well a logistical and multifolded support by municipalities of Lipjan/Lipljane and Gracanica/Gracanice.
The movie was co-produced by Dokufest, Somesuch and BBH (the two latter are private UK companies), there was as lot of free service support provided for the project by Kube studios during production. The complete project including preparation, suppoort of production, as well as promotion included regional and interantional entities. The final act of promotion after the premiere in 20th of june 2016, for the International Refugee Day was done by Feuds PR company, there fore the movie ended up on countles international mainstream media.
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts [BAFTA] at a ceremony held on Sunday evening, 12 February 2017 announced the film “Home”, a Kosovo-British co-production, as the best British short film.
Finally, before winning BAFTA award movie has laready won 17 different awards in diferent international festivals, and therefore it has become one of the most awarded productions from Kosovo.
